You have a cool job, tell us how you got here.
Functional and psychedelic mushrooms changed my life, so much so that I decided to stop everything else I was doing and direct all my attention on fungi. And now I will talk about how I incorporate mushrooms for a living.
My story with mushrooms started with functional, non-psychedelic ones, I started using Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail and Reish pretty religiously and they revolutionized my physical and mental health and gave me a clarity that was potent enough to create an obsession with understanding more about them.
I very much believe fungi is the biggest lever you can pull in humanity to make the biggest impact on the environment, physical health, and mental health. Mushrooms are misunderstood magic, and I believe their innate wisdom can be distilled into countless life lessons to teach us how to be better to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
SHOP THE PANT SETMe and my cofounder Brian Friedman created SuperMush to bring our brains and bodies back into balance, and bring the world of mushrooms to the masses. Our mission is to make the world more colorful and fun, and our brand is centered around community, movement, and creative expression - and we’re inspired by the iconic culture and music of the 1960s and 70s.
We also educate through our media arm and psychedelics podcast @intothemultiverse. Through my deep dive into studying the world of fungi about 7 years ago, I also became a student of the psychedelics space. This passion evolved into my advocacy and education work in bringing psychedelics to the mainstream wellness conversation.
As a part of this journey, I started reading psychedelic policy, and saw a gap in legal advocacy for microdosing. I co-founded a nonprofit called Microdosing Collective that’s working on creating access legal and safe microdosing.

Tell us how you think about rest’s role in mental health.
I recently wrote an email about how being tired is essentially the same as being drunk. Deep, effective rest is vital for well-being. I track my HRV (heart rate variability) as my major metric of health and it’s highest when I sleep REALLY good. I have learned that I function best in cycles, with sprint periods, and deep rest. I’m on 60+ flights a year on average, and reset and recalibration through a blend of fun biohacking tools is a priority for me. When I take time to rest and turn my brain off, my most creative ideas and energy come through.
