Okay, not the sad kind, but it is the morning and we’re chatting with writer and (Insta!) poet Yrsa Daley Ward and she is wearing Energized Blue — so hey, forgive us our pun.
You probably know her from IG. You may have even re-shared one of her poems on your own feed, because, yah, they hit. Yrsa is a writer, creator, and the wear-er of our new Energized Blue Washable Silk. So pour yourself an espresso (or six) and spend your AM with us.
What’s your morning ritual? / Favorite time to write?
In the morning I take pen to paper and allow my thoughts to flow out, over three pages unedited, while I'm still sleepy and the worries of the day have not yet found me. I often find these samples of writing to be the truest and most potent. It's my favourite time to write poetry.
When are you most productive?
I’m most productive morning through to afternoon, and then again at night for a few hours before winding down at night.
Comfy and cozy or all dressed up?
I love to dress up and I love to be cozy. If there's a way to be both, I'm there.
What energizes you?
I'm most energized by the sun, by music, by nature, by art and by movement.
How do you wind down at night?
My favourite way to wind down at night is to light candles, drink tea and read my book of the moment.
What book is on your bedside table right now?
Written on The Body by Jeanette Winterson.
What are you most looking forward to in a post-Covid world?
I can’t wait to be in close contact with my favourite humans in the world again. I feel that it’s around the corner. I am so grateful for the souls in my life.
